Canon Powershot SX60 HS Camera

Canon Powershot SX60 HS Camera

This blog is about the Canon Powershot SX20 IS Camera. But it's an outdated, old camera so if you are someone who has stumbled here while looking for best super-zoom or bridge camera out there then you need to look at the latest versions.

Right now the best bridge camera in market is Canon Powershot SX60 HS Camera. This camera is light years ahead when you consider features and everything. SX20 was not a bad camera and it was the front runner in Bridge camera market in it's time but time has passed, a lot!
Canon SX60 has 16 mega pixel CMOS sensor unlike the CCD sensor Canon SX20 has. This makes a big difference in photo quality. Now you can do raw format photos without using any third party software.

Also it comes in 65x optical zoom which is 3 times bigger than 20x zoom our SX20 has. If you are an owner of the old model I now how amazing photos when when first tried the 20x room. I have to say the 65x is several times better and mind blowing. Also zoom is faster and gives you better quality photos in low light conditions and even indoors. So if you want to upgrade your old Canon SX20 or Canon SX10 cameras, even your Canon SX30 then new model is the best choice you have unless you plan to get a DSLR.

Another Cool feature is SX60 uses Lithium-Ion NB-10L rechargeable battery unlike AA batteries those older models used. This is quite a big thing for users because these batteries last longer and also let you take lot more photos than AAs. You can take around 350 photos with a fully charged battery.

Also I should mention it can do 1080p HD video in MP4 format. It has many resolution options, 1920 x 1080 (60p, 30p), 1280 x 720 (30p), 640 x 480 (30p) etc.

This camera is little bit expensive but again all Canon bridge cameras are like that. It cost you around $480 at Amazon with free shipping. If you want you can go for one of those older Canon or Nikon DSLR cameras for same price. But DSLR cameras are not for everyone.  Canon SX60 IS is lot better for family  use. It's a simply a point and shoot camera which gives you make features of a DSLR and also photo quality.

Also Canon does have a new budget bridge camera range now. The latest model which is Canon SX530 cost you around $299 at Amazon. It also has a CMOS processor and 50x zoom. Lot smaller in size and lighter in weight.

There is older version which is SX520 which is only around $200. It also has a CMOS sensor and 42x zoom. So it's a pretty good option too if you have a really low budget.

Canon Powershot SX510 HS Camera

Canon Powershot SX510 HS Camera

The last post was about Canon Powershot SX50 HS Camera as upgrade from your old Canon SX20 IS Camera. But SX50 cost around $400 and it's not cheap. If you don't have a that kind of budget but still want to a Megazoom camera which is better than SX20 then you have another Canon camera to consider. That's Canon Powershot SX510 HS Camera.

2 disadvantages of Canon SX50 camera is it's way too heavy to be a perfect compact camera and It's too expensive to average camera users pocket. This Canon SX510 is a solution for both of these problems. It's smaller in size and twice cheaper than The big SX50. But it has all main features of the big camera which is an advantage.

It has a 12.1 megapixel high-sensitivity 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor combined with the Canon DIGIC 4 image processor which makes photo qulity seriously high and CMOS sensor helps low light shootings. The camera comes with 30x optical zoom which means 10x more than your Canon SX20 camera has. Not many below $200 point and shoot cameras has CMOS sensors. Usually small compact cameras has CCD sensors. But the truth is these days all camera companies try to use bigger sensors in smaller camera so they stay in competition.

Here's a list of features Canon SX510 camera has,
  • 12.1 megapixel high-sensitivity 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor.
  • Canon DIGIC 4 image processor.
  • 30x optical zoom.
  • 24mm wide-angle.
  • Smart Auto intelligently.
  • 1080p full HD video in stereo sound.
  • 3-inch color LCD with a screen resolution of 461,000 dots.
  • built-in Wi-Fi.

There are several accessories you will need to buy alone with the SX510 if you are going to buy one.You can use your SDHC memory cards from your SX20 but need a new smaller camera bag, and also add a spare battery which can come handy. With the Amazon combo pack we have recommended you can get all these accessories for just extra $10.
